As 2014 comes to a close, I would like to wish you all my lovely past and future clients the most wonderful, exciting, fulfilling and creative 2015! May it be the start of something that you’ve been dreaming of… make it the best year for you because you can!
I can’t believe that the year has flown by so quickly once again. Time flies when you’re having fun and I certainly did. Not a day goes by when I don’t feel grateful for being able to do my favourite thing in the world – makeup. Quite often after very very long days of weddings, bridal trials, private lessons or professional courses I actually feel energised after experiencing so many happy, positive vibes. I love meeting new people from different walks of life – everyone has their own experiences and stories. I’m continually inspired by so many people I meet and feel very fortunate and humbled to be part of their special occasion, be it a wedding, red carpet or awards event to name a few.
I love reading biographies and interviews by successful people who I admire. One of the things that keeps coming up in these is that it’s very difficult to function effectively and efficiently when working on your own. It is wildly important to surround yourself with a wonderful team. Intuitively I’ve managed to do just that. In 2014 I was fortunate to add to my K-Team Tanya, Amy, Kasia and Jane. Inga is another recent addition – her portfolio page is in the process of being created as I write; and Aušra, my longest serving team member, has always been amazing.
All of the K-Team have been fully trained and their skills honed by me to the standard that I demand of myself. Jurate, who must be the most efficient PA on this planet (as my clients’ feedback attests to), has been with me since the Spring of 2014 and thanks to her I’ve regained my sleep which used to be almost non-existent due to the high volume of admin at the end of each day that I had to deal with. All the girls have the most amazing personalities, are diligent, friendly and very much in love with makeup and hair, just like me. I could not have asked for a better bunch, but I do believe in the law of attraction and that everything begins with dreams. I had been visualising having a small but fabulous team for some time and here they all are! I wouldn’t change them for the world and I look forward to another incredible year with them in 2015!
After so many joyous weddings in 2014, something like 100 for me personally, I’m excited to see that 2015 is already filling up too! And some already for 2016 :o) There are some super-organised brides out there :o) My team’s diaries are also filling up for 2015 which is lovely to see. We all work very hard to learn, maintain and improve our standards and to then showcase our labours of love to our clients.
2014 has brought a new thing into my life which I also greatly enjoy: teaching private bridal courses. It kind of grew organically when some of my students found me through recommendations. After they had completed group courses elsewhere some of them found that they still lacked some important basic skills that would enable them to create flawless looks, think:
• corrective techniques for different age groups and eye, face and lip shapes;
• eyebrow correction;
• perfect individual lash extensions that can lift, open, enlarge and extend eye shape; and
• the correct colour selection for different skin types.
Some of them came to me to learn how to improve and polish their skills whilst others had no experience whatsoever. I am chuffed to bits to say that I had inspired several of my brides to change their career and learn this wonderful art of makeup.
I run private courses for a maximum of ONLY 2 students at a time – this enables me to give each the attention they really require, thoroughly explaining to them every single brush stroke and the reasons why we are doing what we’re doing, what happens if we don’t do it correctly, what effect each brush stroke will produce and how to achieve the maximum potential. This is exactly how I was taught and how I will always teach to maintain the quality of my courses and my students’ skills.
The feedback has been overwhelming, I love seeing how much more confident my students are once they have completed the course and look forward to continuing teaching more makeup artists-to-be in 2015. Bring it on.
For those interested in private makeup courses please contact me for further info.
I also had a great time running the weekly giveaways up until Xmas, it’s been lovely to share the love of makeup giving away makeover experiences to lots of lovely winners out there who took part.
All in all it has been a wonderful year, a lifestyle that I worked so hard to create and will continue to work and give all my energy and soul to maintaining because I really am living my dream… I wish all you lovely people out there to follow your hearts and chase your dreams diligently and with endless determination.
May 2015 be the best year for you all!
