As Xmas is almost upon us I thought I’d compile some of mine and the K-Team‘s favourite makeup and hair products in time for your Xmas wish lists. These are products that we personally love and use all the time. Hopefully some of the info below will help to answer some of your makeup and hair related questions. We don’t sell any of these goodies so our views are completely unbiased and based on our experience and also feedback from our clients.
I’ll be back with a blog post in the new year but for now enjoy browsing through our lists…
KASIA‘S HAIR PRODUCT RECOMMENDATIONS
Babyliss Pro Ceramic Dial-A-Heat Tongs (24mm)
These curling tongs are a must-have, they come in a variety of sizes but the 24mm is the most diverse. Depending on the temperature setting and technique used you can achieve tight curls or loose waves.
The ceramic barrel distributes heat evenly to ensure that curls are firm but natural and glossy.
Parlux 3800 Eco Ceramic Ionic Dryer
None of the beautiful glossy red carpet styles would be possible without a good hairdryer. If you are after the highest quality eco-friendly hairdryer that gives you ultra fast drying speed this is the tool for you. It’s easy to handle, well balanced and light.
Quick tip: To achieve a glossy and frizz-free blow-dry always use the nozzle!
Denman Mixed Nylon and Boar Bristles
This brush is ideal for all hair types – it helps detangle fine, dry, curly as well as coarse thick hair.
The shorter boar bristles help to tame even stubborn, wiry, grey hair making the hair shiny, while the longer nylon bristles give you an invigorating hair massage.
YS Park G-Series Brush 45mm
Pure luxury for your hair, this Japanese brush will change your life. The YS Park G-Series brushes are extremely well designed.
I’ve never come across a better brush to achieve glossy, light, healthy-looking hair. It’s especially great for blow-drying stubborn, curly or frizzy hair. The brush has a mixture of boar bristles and polyamide pins. The pins grab hold of and straighten your hair while the boar bristles give it an incredible shine.
The body of the brush is made of wood with a cleverly designed handle making each blow-dry an easy task.
GHD Carbon Tail Comb
Fine-tooth tail-comb ideal for backcombing.
Why carbon? Because it is anti-static and heat-resistant, I’ve thrown away so many plastic combs in the past but if you leave a pair of hot curling tongs on top of a carbon comb it won’t melt away.
Sea Salt Spray by Fudge Urban
This is the must-have product. It has a light hold for natural movement and adds fantastic texture to dull flat hair.
Spray it onto the roots of wet hair and blow dry for lift volume and airy texture, ready for curling. Or spray on dry hair to create natural tousled beach waves.
Moroccan Oil Light Hydrating Mask
The first thing you notice about this product is the heavenly “holiday scent”. It contains antioxidant vitamins and the key ingredient is argan oil which gives hair instant softness. It doesn’t weigh the hair down and therefore makes brushing easier.
Air dried hair has a lot more texture and movement, blow-drying will be a lot easier so no more frizz or knots. It’s worth every penny as a little goes a long way.
KRISTINA’S MAKEUP RECOMMENDATIONS
Great makeup begins with great skin. We’re often confused about what is good for our skin and end up buying a lot of unnecessary products in search for the perfect solution for our skin needs. In my personal experience of the many skin types that I work with every day my opinion is that less is more. What is important is not to confuse our skin with over-scrubbing and over-using various harsh treatments and products. Treat it with love and gentleness and it will reward you with staying smooth and free of imperfections.
I personally swear by Environ, available in many beauty salons and spas (although not over-the-counter due to the amount of active ingredients). It’s done wonders for my skin and that of many of my brides. Environ creams are vitamin and antioxidant based using highly active ingredients, they include vitamins A, C & E to give you great results. I would recommend finding the nearest salon in your area that stocks them and have a consultation with an Environ skincare expert to determine if they can help with your skin concerns. I use their AVST range and their cream cleanser as well as their super-moisture cream for when my skin feels more dry than usual.
A great cleanser that I use in the evenings and also have in my professional makeup kit is NUXE Lotion Tonique Douce Gentle Toning Lotion – it is suitable for sensitive skin and smells deliciously of roses as it soothes, cleanses and refreshes.
Everyone needs a good base for eyeshadow and not many of us want to buy too many products. The Long Wear Cream Eyeshadow Stick by Bobbi Brown is a perfect multitasker as it’s a long-wearing cream shadow that can double-up as your eyeshadow primer. The “Vanilla” shade is a perfect neutral tone that conceals little blue veins that occasionally show through the thin eyelid skin and brightens our (sometimes tired) eyes.
Just swipe a few strokes over your eyelid, blend with your finger and you’ll have instantly fresher eyes and a perfect canvas for powder eyeshadow application.
Chantacaille Compact Soleil Bronzer in St Barth shade. It can be a struggle to find a great bronzer – but this has great tone, is not too orange and gives your face an instantly sunkissed effect.
The packaging is very luxurious too, it’s paraben free with gingko biloba and wild rose ingredients that help heal and protect your skin. This is the bronzer that I always wear.
During my private makeup lessons a lot of clients ask what my favourite mascaras are as everyone seems to be forever on a mission to find their perfect mascara. One that will lengthen, stay put and intensify our lashes, so I’ve included not one but my two favourite mascaras…
Chanel Sublime de Chanel Infinite Length and Curl Mascara in waterproof black.
This does it all: lenghtens, lifts and volumises.
Non-clogging formula for those who like their lashes fluttery. It is waterproof so no unsightly black marks even after dancing the night away.
And the award-winning Sports Mascara by EYEKO.
Another one for more lash-boosting intensity, volume and incredible longevity!
For a blusher try Hourglass Ambient Light Blush – it’s a great shade for most skin types and has a built-in subtle highlighter that appears very soft and natural when applied to the skin.
You don’t even need a highlighter as this blusher gives you colour and soft radiance, as if your skin is shining from within.
Hourglass Veil Mineral Primer – this feels as if you are gliding silk pearls over your face. It’s full of good stuff so looks after your skin as it primes. It’s also waterproof so will help your makeup stay on for longer.
It’s a primer that the whole beauty world seems to be raving about and I understand why because it’s in my personal and work makeup kits.
Chantacaille Future Skin Foundation – my favorite foundation to date.
Feels like your own skin, is gel-based, full of anti-ageing ingredients, non-comedogenic (in English: doesn’t block the pores causing blackheads) and suitable for sensitive skin.
The coverage is buildable, I like to mix it with Chantacaille primer for even lighter coverage for everyday use. This foundation is another amazing product that I can’t live without.
